The Technological Revolution of Relief Printing: The Golden Age of Automation and Hybrid

The strong growth of flexographic pallet printing pallet in recent years is attributed to its nearly “transformative” technological evolution. The application of offset printing pallet machine learning and “zero-preparation” technologies has completely solved the problems of slow plate change and high waste in traditional flexographic pallet printing pallet. With the increasingly fragmented single-order quantities for label and carton printing, the automation level of printing machines has reached an unprecedented height. Environmental pressure is no longer just a slogan; it is the Sword of Damocles hanging over every printing pallet enterprise. Whether it is flexographic nonstop pallet printing or intaglio printing pallet, both must complete the “green transformation” within the next five years. Currently, solvent-based inks are accelerating their replacement by water-based formulations to meet increasingly stringent volatile organic compound (VOC) emission standards. In the plate-making process, flexographic pallet printing is fully shifting from solvent cleaning to water washing systems, significantly reducing the environmental pallet load. However, intaglio pallet printing faces even more severe compliance challenges: the long-term use of hexavalent chromium in plate rollers conveyor pallet has been subject to strict scrutiny by regulatory authorities, and finding alternative processes has become a prerequisite for the survival of intaglio pallet printing. Additionally, the introduction of packaging waste regulations worldwide is forcing brand owners to simplify packaging designs, and this “degression” trend will directly affect the total volume and layout choices of printing pallet.

In the fields of labels and flexible pallet packaging pallet, intaglio pallet printing is experiencing a structural decline. This pressure comes not only from digital pallet printing, but also from the increasingly refined flexographic pallet printing pallet. Only in those decorative and industrial fields with extremely high printing volumes where digital technology has not yet been able to reduce costs through scale effects, does intaglio printing pallet have a relatively safe haven.
